Background
The Gallery was first opened in November 2006 as "Gallery 37" to display products made for a project called "Tree 37". This project , also supported by South Yorkshire Forest Partnership, involved local makers, artists, schools and craftspeople in making a range of products using wood from a single beech tree that had to be felled in Whiteley Wood and which had therefore been marked with the number "37". Following an exhibition of these products at the Winter Gardens in Sheffield, many were then moved to Ecclesall Sawmill for display and thus "Gallery 37" was born. In 2008 the logo, as seen at the header of this website, was devised for the organisation and our name changed to "Working Woodlands Gallery"
Over the last 2 years we have increased our range of products with over 50 local makers now regularly contributing items.
